The Indian Railways is transforming Gandhinagar-Jaipur, a suburban station in Jaipur, into a world-class facility under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The redevelopment project, approved at a cost of Rs 212.48 crore, is currently progressing at a rapid pace. The construction of the new station building is taking shape, with work moving forward swiftly.
The milestone of girder launching was completed recently for the construction of a massive air concourse—72 meters wide and 48 meters long—the first of its kind in the entire Indian Railways. This remarkable feat showcases exceptional engineering efficiency. The Honorable Railway Minister commended the work and congratulated the entire team involved in the project.
Pankaj Kumar Singh, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Eastern Railway Gorakhpur, shared details about the redevelopment of Gandhinagar Jaipur station. The new air concourse will offer passengers various facilities, including a waiting room, shopping complex, cafeteria, and game zone. This area will be accessible to both passengers and the general public.
Gandhinagar-Jaipur suburban station to get two new buildings
Two new buildings are being constructed at the station, with provisions for a range of amenities, such as an arrival and departure lobby, vestibule, security check area with baggage scanners, help desk, departure hall, toilets, and dedicated rooms for RPF and the head TC.
Platform 1 will feature unreserved waiting rooms, executive waiting rooms, and additional toilets. The station will also be equipped with modern amenities like access control systems, metal detectors, baggage scanners, retail stalls, modular toilets, lifts, escalators, and stairs.
The redevelopment project will focus on sustainability, with green building features designed to reduce energy consumption. The station will be powered by renewable energy and include facilities like waste disposal systems and rainwater harvesting.
Extra facilities set up at key stations for passenger rush
Singh also shared updates on the large-scale operation of special trains running for Chhath Puja returnees. A record 37 special trains are currently operational, connecting major cities like Gorakhpur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Surat, Guwahati, and more to ensure safe travel for passengers heading back to their destinations after the festival. Singh informed that rains are running from Gorakhpur to Mumbai, Gorakhpur to Ahmedabad, Ghazipur to Surat, and Chhapra to major cities like Amritsar and Patliputra.
He further highlighted that in view of the expected rush holding areas have been set up at key stations with seating, public address systems, and CCTV monitoring to manage the large crowds effectively. Furthermore, RPF personnel will assist passengers directly to their designated special trains to ensure smooth boarding. Singh assured that updates on train seat availability and reservation status are being provided to help passengers travel with ease during this busy period.
