Indian Railways to Launch Exclusive Online Ticket Booking Portal for MPs

In a move aimed at streamlining travel arrangements for Indian lawmakers, the Indian Railways is set to launch a dedicated online train ticket booking portal exclusively for Members of Parliament (MPs). The platform will cater to both sitting and former members of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, offering a more convenient and seamless ticket booking experience.

The announcement was made by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in a written reply to the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, July 23. The minister confirmed that the Indian Railways is actively working on developing specialized software that will allow Parliamentarians to book and cancel reserved train tickets online.

“The development of software for booking reserved tickets online by sitting as well as former Parliamentarians has been taken up. This will facilitate them to book/cancel the ticket online as per their convenience,” Vaishnaw stated.

Currently, MPs have to rely on manual procedures or coordinate through officials to reserve train tickets, often resulting in logistical delays. The new system is expected to significantly improve efficiency and accessibility for lawmakers who frequently travel across the country.

The initiative underscores the Railways’ ongoing efforts to digitize services and provide tailored solutions for different categories of passengers. Once launched, the portal is expected to become a key resource for Parliamentary travel management.
